I just showered for the first time in our new place and it was everything I thought it would be.
Now, am I ready for my first day back to work tomorrow?!
Our last day in Fort Wayne looked a limitless like this.
Cupcakes for Eli’s school.
A mad dash to pack all our ish.
Hugs, kisses to family and farewells (until two weekends from now for a wedding)
Another road trip to DC.
Eli found a toy with blue market and told me he was trying to be a smurf.
Cute little town, awesome getaway.
Our place was on the marina looking at the ENTIRE town.
Best parts: shopping, wine, activities and everything is close
Worst parts: most places didn’t take reservations (for a group as large as ours that was hectic) and the place we stayed, Casa Loma could REALLY use some updating.
We ate cheap, drank cheap. We spent a day on Oval beach on Lake Michigan. We did a wine tasting, shopping and a beautiful bike ride to the dunes. Such fun.
As for the tits, well, I’m nursing and I was separated from my baby for 3 days. This meme was too accurate not to include.
I have not had time to think let alone blog. So sorry (not like many of you care) but now I’m baaaaack! I have so much to tell.
In the past week, I have experienced the following:
3 day Bachelorette Weekend in Saugatuck, MI for 14 women.
2 days to pack up all our stuff and collect it from our parents’ houses
Drove to DC
Looked at places to live
Chose condo (yes, we got a place in 2 days in DC and it’s AWESOME)
Squatted in my buddy Kirstin’s studio apartment. We are 5 deep in a 427 sq ft apartment because we are CLOSE like that
Trip to National Zoo
Brunch, because DUH we live in DC now
Epic walk home in the rain
Tomorrow we sign our lease and we are officially Washingtonians.
I saw this on a www.superlovetees.com shirt and decided to make it my new mantra.
Feeling so anxious and heavy.
So many things are happening and they are happening fast.
One son talks like a teenager.
One son crawls without touching knees to the floor.
A huge 3 day bachelorette event I planned for 15 women I barely know goes down tomorrow.
I start work in 10 days
My husband starts teaching at American University in 10 days.
We move to Washington DC in 6 days.
We don’t have an apartment picked (although the list is narrowed down).
We do, however, have a kick-ass bed picked out.
Summer is over.
I’m kinda sad about that even though I’m getting just what I wanted and there were times I couldn’t wait to get on with our lives.
Chicken nuggets are delicious, but not when you know what’s in some of them. In his photo series “Mystery Meat,” Augustus photographs popular dishes in Western culture alongside the real “mystery meat” — the raw animal part — they come from.
Some things are gonna change when we move because you can’t unlearn some things.
ONE THING YOU SHOULD NEVER CALL AN ATTRACTIVE WOMAN
There are many ways to kindly and respectfully compliment the way a woman looks. But one descriptor that should be left out of such comments? “Exotic.”
Cristen Conger of the How Stuff Works podcast, Stuff Mom Never Told You, takes on the topic of “exotic” beauty.
That’s just a good-ass rule.
